I lived in Italy for a short time as a college student, married an Italian and settled stateside. We have returned many times, always turning a family visit into an opportunity to explore the rest of the country while we’re there. I make it a point to make sure our trips include exploring a place I’ve never been before, but I can’t help returning over and over to Florence, Venice, Lake Como, and the Amalfi Coast. Rome is my second home and I never run out of new things to discover in the Eternal City.
Through the years I acquired a reputation among our circle of friends for being a good source for travel advice to Italy. I have a good point of reference for what Americans want to see and learn about in Italy; much more so than any Italian, who, having grown up among Roman ruins and marble piazzas, could never fully comprehend our fascination with all that antiquity! I have also had the pleasure of accompanying friends to Italy and setting up itineraries for many others going on their own. I imagine that if you have found this blog you’ve been digging pretty deeply for research for your trip so I hope that I these posts can help fine-tune your visit to Italy.
I would love to hear your comments, updates to my information, or answer any questions you have about a forthcoming trip.
Buon viaggio!
